Lavande
Lavande: Lavender in French. How did we come up with the name? I was in the kitchen one night talking with Nolan, my 23 year old, and Brian, my 15 year old, and a friend of theirs. I asked what name I should have for my soap and lotion company. Sitting at the kitchen table thinking about it, Brian looked up at one of the many pieces of French art I have hanging around my country style kitchen. "How about Lavande? Lavande Soap and Lotion." At first I had no idea where he had come up with such a name. After he pointed it out, I immediately fell in love with it. I love lavender, and I love French.
I also love going out into the backyard and pulling fresh lavendar out of my herb garden to use in my products. There is nothing like coming inside on a day I've spent in the kitchen making a batch of my lotions, or stepping out onto the back porch where I let my soap cure. Both aromas are equally pleasant.
With my growing business, I've asked my daughter Anne to help me with sales. It works out great because we both work at the same hospital on the same floor. My husband Mike also has helped with sales. He takes samples to work with him and sells them to the guys on the job. He builds me work benches and sheds, anything I really ask for.
The thing I enjoy most about my little business is that it revolves around my family.
